Disciplined investing using only liquid, transparent investment vehicles
As discussed in our “Strategies” section, Windsor and MFIP manage assets by investing long or short in vehicles based on broad Market Indexes, such as the S&P 500.
While a Hedge Fund is available, most clients choose a Separately Managed Account, opened in the Client’s name, with Windsor or MFIP granted a Limited Power of Attorney to effect trades.
MFIP:
For clients wishing to use Index Futures, ETFs, or any strategy unique to MFIP, they may open an account at the FCM (Futures Commodity Merchant) of their choice (subject to MFIP’s approval). An Insurance Dedicated Fund is also available to clients who own Private Variable Life Insurance.
Investors should be aware Risk can be substantial when trading futures and options on futures.
Windsor:
Windsor clients use index-based mutual funds. Such mutual fund accounts are titled in the name of the client, with Windsor authorized to exchange among mutual funds but not authorized to withdraw any capital.
For owners of some Variable Annuities, Windsor can also deploy its strategies using the annuities’ sub-accounts, which are very similar to mutual funds.
Market Exposure
- For most of our strategies, the accounts above target broad US Equity indexes, including the S&P 500, Nasdaq 100, Dow Jones Industrial, S&P MidCap 400, and the Russell 2000, long and short exposure, depending on the day’s signal.
- One strategy targets high-yield mutual funds, long only
- Some strategies also offer exposure to the U.S. 20-year bond index (TLT)
